About the Council for Licensed Conveyancers

The CLC is an independent statutory body established to regulate and develop the licensed conveyancing profession in England and Wales. Its primary purpose is consumer protection, ensuring that clients of CLC-regulated firms receive high-quality property law services, backed by professional standards and client protections.

The CLC sets standards for education, training, and practice, and investigates complaints about the conduct of regulated firms.

Making a Complaint

In the First Instance

If you have a concern or complaint about the service we have provided, please raise it with us in the first instance. We have an internal complaints procedure, full details of which are set out in our client care letter sent at the outset of your matter.

We are committed to resolving all complaints fairly and promptly. Most concerns can be addressed quickly when raised directly with your fee earner or our practice manager.

The Legal Ombudsman

If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you have the right to refer it to the Legal Ombudsman (LeO), the independent body that handles complaints about legal service providers in England and Wales.

Please note that there are time limits for referring complaints to the Legal Ombudsman. Generally, you must refer your complaint within one year of the act or omission giving rise to the complaint, or within one year of when you reasonably should have known there was cause for complaint. The Legal Ombudsman must also receive your complaint within six years of the act or omission occurring.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

As required by the CLC, Pinnacle Property Lawyers Ltd holds professional indemnity insurance that meets the minimum standards set by our regulator. Our professional indemnity insurance provides protection for clients in the event of a claim arising from negligence or error in the provision of our legal services.

CLC Compensation Fund

In the unlikely event that a valid claim is made against Pinnacle Property Lawyers Ltd and we are unable to meet our liability in full, you may be entitled to make a claim from the CLC Compensation Fund.
